You just received a package but you are already thinking about sending it back? Well, this happens all the time! Before making up your mind, you are wondering how long it will take to arrive? If you decide to send a parcel back by courier, you have to know that the time needed to return a parcel to the sender depends on different factors such as the type of shipment, the location or the destination of the package.

How much time is needed to return a standard parcel to the sender?

Online shopping has become so easy nowadays, especially since we always have the option to send a parcel back by courier if you are finally not satisfied with your purchase. And how much time is needed to return a standard parcel to the sender? Well, if the package you are sending back is in the same country than the original sender, it usually takes between 1 to 3 business days to arrive. If the package is in a European country and you are sending it back to another EU country, then it usually takes 4-5 business days to be in the hands of the original shipper.

Eurosender also provides you with a tool to calculate the estimated delivery time for a specific route! Please, note that it only gives you an estimation. Delays can occur due to complications such as heavy traffic, roadworks or exceptional weather conditions.

How long will it take to send a pallet back to the shipper by courier?

As you can imagine, more time is needed to send back a pallet. It usually takes between 5 to 7 days for the pallets to be delivered to the original shipper within Europe. Having to ship back a pallet can be a bit of a bother, especially if you don’t know how long it will take to arrive. With Eurosender, it becomes easier. We explain to you how to prepare a pallet for shipping and we can also give you a delivery time for a specific route when you book our services.

Automatic return to the sender after a failed delivery

Please, note that if the delivery fails, it is a different case. When the courier was not able to deliver a package, you receive a notification, from the courier company in charge of your shipment, that says that the package is being returned to the sender. There are many reasons this can happen, you can read a bit more on the subject on our blog to understand why that was the case of your shipment. The delivery time tends to be longer when this happens because returned packages are not a priority for them. Moreover with some courier companies, if this occurs, you might have to pay additional charges for the package to be delivered to the shipper. The parcel is usually returned to the sender if the two delivery attempts failed and if the parcel has still not be picked up after a week. If you want to avoid all the hassle, please make sure someone will be able to receive the package or to pick it up in the nearest depot or pick up point.
