Wrapping up the year

It’s again December, the time for wrapping up affairs before ringing in the new year. Except for the Christmas celebration with the entire Eurosender team, it is also the time when we draw a line and we look at the achievements, mistakes, and mishaps.

It is the time when we pinpoint the main happenings in our company and show you the human face of it. So, to get it started, these are some of the things we see when we look back at 2017:

One thing is certain. At this year’s Christmas party, we got many more guests on the list. In 2017 our team has continued to grow and many colleagues from different corners of the world have joined our team. We are internationally growing stronger, louder and with much more energy. We love the mixture!

We have a completely new look

Nowadays things get old faster and faster. We thought our website needed a complete revamping, so we started to work on it back in the spring. We rolled out the new version of the design in July. It was a strenuous and time-consuming task but it was worth the effort. Many teams were involved in the process of bringing a new design and fresh new content that would answer any of our customers’ questions.

We rolled out many new features

We started the business aiming at simplifying the intricate world of the logistics industry.

Whether it is about broadening the types of shipping services, offering a new payment option or additional services, with every new feature that we roll out, we wanted to get close to the shipper’s needs. We got them all explained in dedicated articles.

We officially launched our services in Ireland and in the countries from the Balkan region

We are happy that our shipping services are now covering Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia. We identified a lack of an affordable option for courier services in these countries and we are currently focusing on tailoring them to the needs of these markets.

We pioneered the idea of offering an immediate quote for freight shipping

When we started the business, our goal was to offer an alternative to the traditional way people access shipping services.

One of the biggest holdbacks for both businesses and individuals has also been accessing to freight shipping services.

Freight is the service that can accommodate the shipping of large, heavy and bulky items. Most businesses need this service but also more and more individuals are sending their requests for such services.

Up until now, the process of quoting a freight shipment was time-consuming. It generally takes up to a few hours to receive a price for a freight shipping. However, on Eurosender platform, customers are now able to get an immediate price for a freight shipping for almost any destination in Europe. Our algorithm automatically selects the best price available on the market. This cuts off the time spent researching the lowest fare available and the time wait to receive a quote from a courier company. This improvement has been received very well by our business clients. We continued sponsoring the main student events

We’ve partnered up with many students and expats organizations. Our services are perfect for people who are in constant motion and for those who relocate for good or temporarily to another country. Since many of us are expats ourselves, we know what it takes to live abroad. So, we like to get involved in any activities dedicated to expats and students, in any way we can. There were plenty of them this year. Among them:

EESTEC job fair, Ljubljana where we held an interview with potential new employees.

ESN Ibiza trip – More than 2000 students took part, this being one of the main events for students participating in the Erasmus program. It what a lot of fun and the after movie says it all.

Welcome cruise by Eurosender. Back in September, more than 200 people participated in it and we took a lot of pictures.

We were featured in the main media outlets

2017 was again about appearances in media. We got coverage in online media, radio, and TV and aired radio commercials. Since our services cover entire Europe, we received significant attention in different countries.

We officially launched in Ireland and in the European countries located in Balkans. These events brought us to the attention of the local press.

We ran a few campaigns for people to relish the opportunity to travel places

We’ve focused our efforts on a few marketing campaigns that proved to be a veritable success. Two are especially dear to us: a dedicated campaign for students who participate in exchange programs and make friends abroad – “Erasmus friendship”.

Our second favourite job – shooting new videos

A few team members were very happy to be the main actors in our videos. Even though we are not professional actors, we believe that some of the videos came out nice enough to put a grin on everyone’s face.

The summary of videos: a brand-new series of “What customers ask” (video below) – we imagined different scenarios coming from the funniest questions we received, a new version of frequently asked questions – we give you all the information you need about our service, and videos which cover the main events that Eurosender organized or the ones we took part in.

We partnered with other business in order to offer more integrated shipping services

This year, we sealed a partnership with Parcelly which enables our customers, who want to ship a parcel from London, to leave it at one of Parcelly’s drop-off points around the city. From there, the courier will pick it up and deliver it to the chosen destination. The service is a good fit for those who don’t want to sit around and wait for the courier to arrive at their doorstep.

And last but not least, we were designated one of the best blogs in the logistics industry in the world.

We are happy to know that our efforts are seen. As we said it back then, we say it again: our promise is to always write more and better.

With so many things going on, 2017 flew by. But we are all excited about 2018 and hopefully, it will at least equal this current year.
