- Secure the lid and fallboard closed with bubble wrap and tape. If you want even more protection for the keys, you can use bubble wrap to cover them before closing the lid.
- If you are transporting a grand piano, disassemble the legs and pedals to be packed in a separate box.
- Cover the whole surface of the piano with bubble wrap or moving blankets, then secure with stretch foil and tape.
- Use a piano dolly for additional safety. Get help from three or four people to load the piano carefully onto the dolly and secure it tightly with straps.
- Check once again that all surfaces of the piano are covered and protected before loading it onto the van.
