What is the bill of lading (B/L)?
The carrier issues this document, and it has several functions, serving as proof of transport agreement, proof of receipt, and title of ownership. The bill of lading contains all the details about the movement and method of delivery of a shipment. There are different types of documents, depending on the mode of transport: ocean shipments (original or express bill of lading) or air shipments (air waybill).
