What is meant by a contract of carriage?

A contract of carriage defines the terms, conditions, duties, liabilities, and trading parties’ rights. The most common types of these contracts are:

  • Bill of Lading (BoL)
  • Sea waybill
  • Air waybill
  • Charter party
