Chassis

The chassis is a piece of special equipment used to transport containers, usually when the shipment needs to be moved for road transport, from the ship to a truck.

What does chassis mean in shipping?

The chassis trailers are useful in shipping when the container needs to be further transported by road via truck. Initially, the shipment would be travelling by sea, and then the containers are put on a chassis and continue the transit on the ground. In order to use this service, a chassis fee need to be paid.
