GLOSSARY

Load-to-ride

Load-to-ride (LTR) means the goods are loaded on the truck and transported directly to the destination, without the middle step of LTL of unloading, consolidating, and reloading at a terminal.

How does load-to-ride transport work?

Load-to-ride transport consists in consolidating different orders on the same route or geographical area without stops at the local terminals. It is also ideal for companies that do on-site consolidation. The advantages of LTR compared to LTL or FTL are:

  • Less handling means reduced risk of cargo damage,
  • Shorter transit times than LTL,
  • Lower prices than FTL.
