What is a Power of Attorney (POA), and what does it do?

The POA is a document that the agent or attorney-in-fact has and allows them to act on behalf of another person. In logistics, the POA is most commonly used when one of the trading parties appoints a specific agent (or other entity) to handle the shipment on their behalf. Power of attorneys are most commonly used in customs clearance processes.
